Kenya Tourist Development Corporation entered into a partnership with a U.K based event organizing company, Bench Events, to bring to Kenya the first ever Hotel Investment Forum to be held in Sub-Sahara Africa. The Forum was held on September 25th and 26th 2012 at the Intercontinental Hotel.
The Conference was officially opened by the Vice President, H.E Hon. Dr.Kalonzo Musyoka. Also present was the Tourism Permanent Secretary,Ms. Leah Gwiyo, and the Minister for Tourism Hon. Dan Mwazo.
The Association was a guest speaker at the forum, where the CEO participated in a panel session on how to overcome operational challenges and develop human capital in the hospitality industry, with major focus on the educational infrastructure in the country and the role that the public and private sectors are playing.
The forum saw the attendance of Top notch international hotel brands such as Mariott, Wydham, Radisson Blu, Kempinsiki, Lornho hotels among others Some of the these international brands have shown interest in joining Hilton and Intercontinental Hotel, in investing into the country. The forum welcomed more investors into the hospitality sector as the demand for accommodation was ever growing.
