FOUNTAIN OF HOSPITALITY BOOK LAUNCH
July, 2012

The Association through the CEO and Chairman were guests at the launch of  a book by the Kenya Utalii College - The Fountain of Hospitality - at the Swiss Embassy where the ambassador Jacques Pitteloud lived up to the Swiss reputation for exquisite, world class hospitality.

The book is published in collaboration with the Swiss Embassy hence the choice of venue for the launch. The Swiss Agency for Development conceived its largest ever project in Kenya in 1969 and that project was the Kenya Utalii College to cater to the need for trained staff in the growing tourism industry. The KUC project came at a time when tourism was to become Kenya's biggest earner after tea and coffee production. In 1969, more than 280,000 tourists visited Kenya and by 2002, the year when the last student of the Swiss scholarship programme left Kenya Utalii College, the number had risen to 993,600.

The book's publisher Aziz Islamshah explained the motivation behind the book, which is to look at interesting lessons in history.
