The event was held in the month and was officiated by the Minister of Forestry and Wildlife Dr. Noah Wekesa, also present was the Minister for Tourism, Hon. Dan Mwazo. The Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) marine park branding ceremony represents a significant milestone towards the realization of tourism pillar of country’s Vision 2030.
Stakeholders present including the Minister for Tourism thanked KWS for taking the lead in enhancing the image of Mombasa city and the Marine Park as a world class tourism product. By ensuring that our beaches are clean and safe, communication to visitors is enhanced and local communities are involved in responsible tourism, Mombasa Marine Park has set the pace for redefining Mombasa city as a world class destination.
The park is the first Marine Park in Kenya to introduce a Beach Management Programme. The programme aims to restore the competitive edge of Kenya’s Coastal area as a tourism destination while ensuring that the marine and beach tourism products are preserved.
