Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) vide Legal Notice No. 25 of 2nd April 2012 received approval from the Finance Minister to increase the passenger service charge (otherwise known as departure tax) with effect from 1st July 2012.

The Increases will be as follows: -

From $20 to $40                               -             for international passengers
From Kshs 300 to Kshs 500             -          for domestic travel

The fees are included in the cost of the air ticket and carriers will therefore be expected to increase ticket fares by a similar margin.

It is estimated that more than 2 million passengers pass through JKIA annually and the Authority targets to raise more than 6.7 Billion, largely to be used to finance the on-going expansion of JKIA.
