The National Tourism Network was held in Nairobi at the Weston Hotel. The national tourism network was the culmination of various fora held in the 6 regions of the country in the last year. The mandate of the network was to foster tourism development and create an enabling environment.

Dr. Rose Kisia the Chairman of the Tourism Executive Caucus informed the meeting that CECs for Tourism from all counties had formed a Caucus to be able to serve the tourism sector effectively by working regionally and nationally.

The chairman had appointed Chairpersons for each of the regions as follows:-

1.    Coast Region:  Hon Tumbo Odhiambo

2.    Savanna Region (Machakos): Hon Faith Wathome

3.    Mt Kenya:  Hon. Judy Nyambura

4.    Nairobi County (with Kajiado and Kiambu): Hon Anna Othoro

5.    South Rift: Hon Wesley Kaitany

6.    North Rift: Hon Philip Meli

7.    The North: Hon Habiba Hussein

8.    Western Region/ Lake Victoria: Hon Hilary Mahulo

Mr Willis Ondiek, Head of Standards and Training at the Tourism Regulatory Authority explained the role of the newly formed organization. Ms. Kezia Odemba, spoke on the steps being taken by the Ministry to assist the tourism industry in the recovery process.
