The Association held several meetings at the Kenya Maritime Authority Board room, where the participants discussed various issues aimed at saving life and providing ample security for public beaches.
The anticipated scenarios that were considered included:
• Overcrowding and traffic control
• The risk to swimmers of drowning
• Safety of Boats, Life equipment & Registration compliance
• First Aid cases attributable to sea urchins and accidental cuts
• Petty crime and sexual impropriety
• Drug peddling and misuse
• Pollution/Littering and Public health concerns
• Tracing & rehabilitation of lost children.
The Association was tasked to support the (110) personnel who will be on the ground for 5 days during the April Beach Safety Awareness Campaign 2012 between 6th April and 10th April 2012 inclusive.
We have benefited a lot as stakeholders in the past from these initiatives. We also have supported these campaigns. We Kindly request our Coast membership to get in touch with the KAHC Coast secretariat on their participation in this project.
