The Secretariat attended a one day workshop on gender and youth mainstreaming in tourism organized by the Ministry of East African Affairs, Commerce and tourism in conjunction with UNECA (United Nations Economic Commission for Africa)

The workshop was aimed at getting feedback from tourism stakeholders on:

• Challenges faced by women and youth involved in tourism and those working in tourism establishments
• Existing legal framework supporting women and youth
• Characteristics values inherent in youth and women
• Create a framework on how to mainstream tourism to accommodate the youth and women.
