After a successful hosting of the KAHC symposium that saw the attendance of among other guests the Chairman of Vision 2030 Steering Council, Dr. James Mwangi, the tourism industry was invited for a meeting with the Chairman on 4th July 2013. Following the plea from the symposium plenary that tourism matters should be taken seriously and given necessary priority if Vision 2030 was to be achieved.
The committee presented to Dr. Mwangi a memo containing a raft of measures- short, mid and long term that ought to be considered to put the Kenyan tourism industry on the right growth trajectory. The Chairman promised to take up the matters and explore into ways of how the government can be brought to attention on the same.
After this engagement, the Vision 2030 team invited us to the next Medium Term Planning (MTP2) meeting at the Kenya School of Monetary studies where 5 key issues were identified and included in the Vision 2030 flagship, among them The Maasai Mara, Dongo Kundu Project and the National Tourism Strategy.
