AGRICULTURE SECTOR DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM (ASDPS)

KAHC was represented in an Agriculture Sector Development Support Program (ASDSP) stakeholder validation workshop held on 4th June 2013.
 
The objective of the workshop were: -
•   Confirm the priority value chains by applying the Value chain prioritization tool.
•   Stakeholders analysis through SWOT
•   Understand the value chains ecology at county level as per the data tables attached (Sector ministries’ officers to come with the data as per their sub counties and specific    area).
•   Discuss Mombasa county ASDSP Launch

Participants were informed that the Agriculture Sector Development Support Program (ASDSP) has been rolled out in all the 47 counties in the country. The program’s goal is to “transform Kenya’s agricultural sector into an innovative, commercially oriented, competitive and modern industry that will contribute to poverty reduction, improved food security and equity in rural and urban Kenya”.
The core focus of the program is Value Chains development a process which is demand driven and stakeholder led. The process of Value chains development commences with prioritization of critical value chains that will act as ‘drivers’ towards achieving the program’s goal.

Mombasa county ASDSP was officially launched on 15th June 2013.
