Under the auspices of KTF, the tourism industry on Wednesday 22ndMay hosted the new Cabinet Secretary - Mrs. Phyllis Kandie - to a welcome cocktail reception at the Sarova Panafric. The event was very well attended by sections of the industry, led by the Chairpersons and Executive Committees of the Associations under KTF.
Others present also included three Members of Parliament – Hon. Joash Olum , Hon. Cecily Mbarire and Hon. Dan Kazungu. Also in attendance was Mr. Joseph Ole Lenku, who has since been nominated for appointment as Cabinet Secretary in charge of the crucial Internal Security docket.
1. Tourism Marketing - provision of adequate funds as a well as deal with non-functions status of Parastatal Boards.
2. Tourism Infrastructure – roads in tourist areas and specifically targeting the Narok-Sekenani Road and the one from Moi Airport into the town center.
3. Promote Private-Public partnership and improve collaboration.
4. Poaching of Wildlife (in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment).
5. Crack down on Illegal tourism operations
6. Establishment of the Tourism Crisis Response Center
7. Implementation of the Tourism Act, which had stalled.
8. Beach Management – deal with concerns affecting the beach product.
9. National Tourism Strategy – address the tourism product both from supply and demand side.
