The Association was present at the presentation of the 2012 Tourism Arrivals by the Minister for Tourism, Hon. Dan Mwazo at the Ministry of Tourism.

Here is a brief of the 2012 Tourism information:-

·         The destination declined between 2 to 3% closing the year at 1.236 M arrivals compared to 1.265 M in 2011 reflecting an absolute decline of 2.3%.

·         JKIA grew by 1.7%  - 1,047,816 vs 1,030,436 in 2011

·         MIAM declined by an average of 20% for the year, boosted by December performance which surpassed last year’s December arrivals. This was the only month where MIAM arrivals superseded that of the similar month in 2011. Total MIAM arrivals for 2012 were 187,151 as compared to 233,844 in 2011

·         There were 1,057 recorded cruise arrivals for the year.

·         The top 5 markets remain the same as last year: UK,US, Italy, Germany and India

·         In 2012, holiday arrivals increased by 2% whilst business arrivals declined by 26.4%
