SPEAKER'S ROUND TABLE

The Association was represented by the CEO and EO Coast at the above forum which was held at Leisure Lodge Beach Hotel, under the banner of the Speaker’s Round Table, KEPSA and Parliament. The 2-day conference targeted leaders in business and the 3 arms of Government.

The meeting was officially opened by the Head of State, H.E. President Mwai Kibaki., also in attendance were  very high profile delegation comprising amongst others the Vice President, Prime Minister, Speaker of the National Assembly, Chairman of IEBC and several MPs,  over 190 of the leading captains of industry as well as Diplomats from UK, US and other key Embassies.

The meeting addressed itself primarily to concerns about the forthcoming General Elections and the need for the same to be peaceful. Speaker after speaker stressed the need for a peaceful process as well as the consequences to businesses if this does not happen. The Media was put on the spot and urged to “black out” any politicians who were not issue-based.

All present were in agreement that the country cannot afford a repeat of 2007/2008 and all efforts shall be made to ensure that the election process is both credible and fair.

Through the KEPSA Secretariat, follow-up will be made on the resolutions of the meeting to ensure that the agreed outputs are implemented.
