Hon. John Mututho had introduced amendments to the act that would have proposed major changes which include blocking the sale of alcohol two days before the elections, among others.

These changes would have had a major impact on the industry and would have amounted to major losses. It is in this regard that the Association, organized for a press briefing in Nairobi, at the Stanley Hotel, on 7th January 2013, to protest against the bill, which was coming up for the 3rd and final reading on 8th January 2013 .We are glad to report that the bill did not take off, and was dropped from the order paper at the last session of the now dissolved National Assembly.
